Welcome to FatDialogue.com

FatDialogue.com is an online Fat Studies discussion, resource and information hub. The site aims to provide a diverse interactive and interdisciplinary space for those involved in Fat Studies scholarship, fat positive art and fat political activism.

FatDialogue.com emerged as an idea during the planning and organisation of the 2010 Fat Studies: A Critical Dialogue conference. The core commitment behind the conference was to open a dialogue between scholars, health care professionals, artists and activists about the possibilities Fat Studies offers for rethinking dominant ideas about health and pathology, gender and bodily aesthetics, political interventions, and beyond.

Given this, FatDialogue.com was established to reach those who could not attend the conference, and moreover, to enable the continuation of conversations begun at the Fat Studies conference about the constructions of 'fatness' in our culture, and the critical, political, ethical and creative interventions the Fat Studies community can make into the lived implications and effects of institutional, clinical and social fatphobia.
